
Columbia Weather Systems
Columbia Weather Systems Inc. (CWS) is a small company located in Hillsboro, OR. They produce professional grade weather stations designed for use with industry and government applications. They additionally produce software and hardware to interface with their weather stations to translate and transmit environmental data into other industrial control systems.
As apart of the additional hardware offerings, CWS offers what they call a “Weather MicroServer”, a linux based data logger and web server. It includes a web browser user interface with real-time dashboards, configuration, and data export; available to any computer or device on the network. The MicroServer comes standard with several industrial automation interfaces to SCADA, web interfaces to our Cloud Weather Server, Weather Underground, and data export via FTP. It can serve met data to third-party applications like CERES for HazMat plume modeling. It can communicate with CWS’s in-house WeatherMaster software over the network, allowing for long-term data storage on a computer and providing trend charts for historical data. Users can also chose to provide data from their weather system to numerous civil and commercial entities for data aggregation.
The MicroServer allows optional data export through FTP, SNMP, MODBUS, BACNET, and DNP3. End users typically do not have access to a shell on the MicroServer, and all interacts with the device for configuration are handled through the web portal, with admin authentication credentials provided in the MicroServer user manual.
